Camera painting: ‘Es Vesra.

View Post

Es Vedra is a small rocky island situated 1.5 miles off the south west coast of Ibiza. Its steep cliffs rise out of the sea and skirt the central peak (height 413 metres) It is a visually attractive and has been much used by film directors. In South Pacific it provided the location for the island of Bali Hai.

The Island is uninhabited – although a Carmellite friar took up residence for a short time in the late nineteenth century. Its inhospitable character has provided source material for an abundance of myths and legends, mostly involving magical or mysterious happenings

At the water’s edge

A beach at low tide often presents a wide range of interesting shapes and patterns. Sometimes strands of seaweed, particularly in silhouette, can suggest the outlines of characters, objects or landscape features. In these instances I have retained the original shapes but have removed or neutralized the background. Otherwise there have been no additions or subtractions to the original photos.
