Es Vedra is a small rocky island situated 1.5 miles off the south west coast of Ibiza. Its steep cliffs rise out of the sea and skirt the central peak (height 413 metres) It is a visually attractive and has been much used by film directors. In South Pacific it provided the location for the island of Bali Hai.

The Island is uninhabited – although a Carmellite friar took up residence for a short time in the late nineteenth century. Its inhospitable character has provided source material for an abundance of myths and legends, mostly involving magical or mysterious happenings
