What happened next?

For each of the scenarios below, imagine you are standing, barefooted, at the water’s edge.  See the wave breaking, hear the sound. feel the movement of the water against your feet.  Relax!

At the water’s edge

I was pleased with the painterly effect of the processing and was encouraged to experiment further using a pointillist approach!

By the water’s edge

Taken a few days ago on a visit to nearby Pitsford Reservoir.  It was a bright day, quiet and a little chilly  –  therapy for the soul!

Colour, shapes and textures on the rocks

Draped seaweed, exposed at low tide, often displays a range of rich colours and fantastical shapes that contrast with the barnacled or striated rock beneath.

The Beach in November (2)

The pictures below were originally presented in full colour in the post of 2 December  (see The Beach in November) but I became increasingly aware of the timelessness of the scene, and have attempted to capture this aspect in the images below.

The Beach in November

The seagulls, geese and lighthouse pictures shown in recent posts were taken during a few days break at the beginning of November.  The weather was mixed  –  sunshine and showers (often heavy!) and at all times there was a strong, cold, bleak north easterly breeze.  The beaches, not surprisingly, were generally deserted, but a few hardy souls braved the conditions.

The Negotiators

During our recent three days break in Suffolk I took quite a few photos of reeds bordering the lakes.  The image below caught my eye because I immediately saw some form of encounter taking place between the group on the left and the group on the right.  The nature of their exchange I leave to your imagination.

Sunlight on the sea.

No context is needed for this photo.  It was just a beautifully peaceful late afternoon.  If you listen carefully you can hear the gentle rippling of the waves and the shingle scurrying back to the sea.
