Abstract ‘Sisyphus’

[In Greek mythology, Sisyphus is punished for offending Zeus. He must roll a large boulder to the to oi a steep hill. When he stops to rest the boulder rolls back down the hill and he must begin again.

Most of us know that feeling only too well!]

More Pond Images

It is interesting to compare the black and white images below with the colour image, Pond Abstract, posted recently.  All of the shots were taken within seconds of each other.  It seems to me that the monochrome pictures convey a sense of energy and movement, which is the essence of these photos.  The colour image, I find more static but with  a strong ‘pattern’ interrelationship between shapes and colours.

Abstract 154 ‘Blue Bubbles’

The bubbles beneath the cascading water in the garden pond echoed the blue of the sky.  The water around the bubbles reflected the more immediate surroundings.  Together they created an attractive abstract pattern.

Life with bubbles

The fountain in my small garden pond creates constantly changing bubble patterns.   Not only do the patterns change but so too do the colours, depending on the sky above, the activity beneath the water surface and the reflections from the surrounding trees and buildings.

Pond fountain

My small garden pond  –  and it is very small  –  is a constant source of pleasure.  The sound of running water, the changing patterns of bubbles, the flashes of gold from the fish, the leaves and flowers of the water lilies etc, all combine to soothe the frenzied brow and create a relaxing diversion from the busy world.  High on this ‘purr list’ is the sight of water gushing joyfully from the fountain.  In this photo I have attempted to capture an impression of the moment rather than a freeze-frame replica.

Raindrops on the table

Following heavy showers overnight, raindrops collected on the glass top of the patio table and formed attractive abstract patterns.  The teal colouring of the table’s base is reflected through the wet surface.
