Seaweed abstract ‘Yesterday’s Pop Star’
This is a natural seaweed pattern. The sand has been bleached out and a little colour saturation has been applied. The result is an image reminiscent of the appearance and hair style once favoured by pop stars!!

Aladdin on the shore
The statistics tell me this is post No. 600! Doesn’t time fly when you’re enjoying yourself?!
Perhaps it was a combination of the odd glass of wine and the onset of the pantomime season that encouraged me to see an Aladdin-like character in this seaweed ‘abstract’!

Just think about it! (18)
‘Seeing is a creative process’.
‘Meaningful art – in any medium – is mind changing, challenging the prejudices of conventional thought. In this role, art lives between the known and the unknown, communicating what it discovers in this ambiguous territory.’
Both quotations are from Duane Preble in his foreword to The Tao of Photography.

A quiet moment
I savour being ‘far from the madding crowd’, and I enjoy beauty in all its forms but especially, perhaps, natural beauty. It is not surprising, therefore, that I find something idyllic about the seashore on a still day.

The Beach in November (2)
The pictures below were originally presented in full colour in the post of 2 December (see The Beach in November) but I became increasingly aware of the timelessness of the scene, and have attempted to capture this aspect in the images below.

Abstract 191 ‘The Protest’
This abstract picture is derived from reflections on a swimming pool. I feel it conveys a sense of tremendous energy, almost communal defiance – hence the possible title.

November in Norfolk
This photo was taken at Walcott in Norfolk, UK. It was late in the afternoon on a dull, showery day. Nevertheless, the unpromising conditions combined to produce an atmospheric picture. [Walcott suffered serious damage during the recent sea surge and residents were evacuated temporarily.]

Dune Grasses 3 ‘Windsurfer’
At the water’s edge
Throughout our few days on the Norfolk coast the strong breeze constantly injected energy into the waves breaking on the shore.

The Beach in November
The seagulls, geese and lighthouse pictures shown in recent posts were taken during a few days break at the beginning of November. The weather was mixed – sunshine and showers (often heavy!) and at all times there was a strong, cold, bleak north easterly breeze. The beaches, not surprisingly, were generally deserted, but a few hardy souls braved the conditions.
