This image was created a month ago, both to reflects my own feelings and to symbolize and express something of the hurt, heartache and anger caused by a sequence of horrendous events – terrorist attacks in Manchester and London and the Grenfell Tower Block fire.
It is extraordinary how therapeutic a short time by the sea can be. The whirligig of everyday life is temporarily stilled. The vastness of the sea, the soothing ripple of the waves, the plaintive calling of the gulls, the awareness of unaccustomed space combine to induce personal reflection and meditation.
It is the season of the year when ‘time’, in one form or another – whether reflecting on past happening or planning the future – often impinges on our consciousness. The image below seeks to express the passing of time. The material is derived from a newspaper advertisement for Time magazine.
