Snowdrops

 

There can be few more uplifting sights than the banks of snowdrops that appear in abundance at this time of the year.  The resilience of these small flowers never ceases to amaze, however severe the weather might be.  In fact, this particular winter has been remarkably mild   –  so far!

  1. I know snowdrops are big in England – they’re popular in the northeast US, but not quite so much in the northwest. I would love to see them “in abundance!” Must be wonderful.

    • You’re right Lynn. They’re very popular here and tours are advertised to sites of outstanding beauty. From a distance they look delightfully delicate – a sort of corps de ballet – but they burst through the frozen ground ahead of all else.
