  1. A mysterious and somewhat dark mood is emitting from this photo. Those old Roman churches are quite dark, aren’t they. 🙂

    • The small island of Iona was the landing place of St Columba when he first brought Christianity to Britain in AD563 A small community of monks established a monastery there but it was repeatedly invaded by the Vikings! Obviously there has been much rebuilding and restoring over the years and the main Knave (where the picture was taken) dates largely from the 12th century. But, as you indicated, it retains a strong sense of both history and mystery.
