Isn’t this a useful criterion by which to assess artworks regardless of the particular artform being used? Isn’t this what the arts are ‘about’?

I agree. I think that wonderful quote also includes “lifting the veil” revealing intangible, sometimes ugly concepts and realities.
Yes. Lifting the veil is a recurring image in Shelley both in his poems and in Prometheus Unbound.
